On Mum Style: Key Accessories

Mum Style becomes a great deal about embracing your new curves, new lifestyle and new daily regime. Being a pregnant mother to an extremely active toddler, my style now requires a certain level of practical (trainers and low heels), functional (pockets), bump friendly (comfortable), uncomplicated outfits that also look elegant and stylish! Gosh, that’s a lot of criteria!

Unlimited time to chose the ideal, most appropriate, on trend outfit to sport that day simply doesn’t exist anymore, rushing out the door, hoping you grabbed from the clean chair pile is more on point. But ‘Mum style’ and indeed ‘Maternity Fashion’ doesn’t have to mean tracksuit bottoms and a T-shirt anymore, the highstreet and online independent designers offer a great selection of choice for all budgets more often than not inspired by the designer catwalks. And many brands have great classic items that allow you to look elegant and put together whilst running around after a toddler, crawling after a baby, or indeed perfecting your pregnancy waddle!

Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be featuring some of my favourite accessories, maternity purchases, baby proven useful items and recommendations from some of my favourite independent brands.

Two key Accessories:

Footwear: Ballet pumps, loafers, trainers, high-tops & low heeled boots are all essential items for keeping you comfortable whilst on the go. Though I have a rather large collection of heels, I must admit I rarely wear them now, to the point of contemplating a serious Ebay sales mission!

Baby Change Bags: Oh my, the amount of stuff I lug around when with my small is quite frankly ridiculous, BUT whenever I don’t bring the extra full change of clothes, snacks, wipes, toy, waterproofs etc then disaster will strike and the outing will be cut short. It’s like leaving the house without an umbrella – it will rain, it’s just how it works!

Created by design duo Sophia and Matt, The Yayoi change bag is an excellent investment. When Junior was smaller I used it every day. With the additional straps provided it was easily to attach to my pram. The shoulder strap means that it has now become a much used weekend travel bag for Junior as it easily fits all the items he needs for a short stay with Grandma. Waterproof inside and out, it’s an essential! The  print is designed by Matt and the bag crafted and created by Sophia. A clever pair of entrepreneurial parents!
